Out of Valhrona?! C'est Pas Possible!

For those of you unlucky souls to have never tried a Valhrona chocolate, you are really missing out... And now so are we!

Valhrona is a delicious chocolate producer in Tain l'Hermitage where we interned. We were obsessed after the first box the Pouthier's bought us... It's pretty much the best chocolate in the world (if you ask us). Their factory was situated 200 yards (if that) from the winery, so every morning our first breath out of the car was a whiff of chocolate. (We could even tell when they were making strong dark chocolate.) With the winery doors opening, imagine the smell of syrah and dark chocolate truffles in the air. It was amazing.

Better yet, the store (conveniently located on the way back from work) offers endless free samples. We fell victim to this more than once.

Anyways, we digress... Before leaving Tournon, we carefully chose about 25 of our favorite truffles to accompany and comfort us during our journey. We limited ourselves to one per night (each) and once we reached the bottom layer of the box, we were only allowed to enjoy them on the last night of each stop.

For our final night in Portimão, we shared the very last truffle, intense dark chocolate, topped with gold flakes, one of our favorites. It was satisfied yet a sad moment.

Valhrona even leaves us with an unsolved mystery. Two truffles went missing during our stay in Barcelona. We have two possible culprits - the maids... Or Kate (after our big night out). It's unclear and will never be solved.
