Walk on the Beach

Woke up, had breakfast in the room, and set out to see more of San Sebastian. We walked through the center of the city, straight to the beach. San Sebastian has a long beachfront set in a small bay. The beach was teaming with life, lots of people with their dogs and even brave swimmers, kayakers and a surf class. We joined in by walking on the sand the whole length of the bay. It took us about 40 minutes to walk from one end to the other. Although it was chilly, it was pleasant in the sun.

We sat on a beach admiring the view. Casually made our way back to the old village along the esplanade. We selected a choice pintxos bar where we each had a toast with caramelized onions, sun-dried tomato and chevre also sharing tortilla Española and a sparkling water. Then we found a little bakery where we shared another snack and sipped afternoon coffee. There we also picked up a baguette for our dinner. We continued to wander the old town and found a small, organic grocery store where we purchased a romesco spread and goat cheese. We took note from the Spaniards who close all shops from 1-4:30pm and made our way back to the hotel for an afternoon rest.

Later, we went out for an evening stroll again making our way through the old village; the pintxos bars were already hopping, but we skipped them and headed to the pier. We climbed the stairs past the aquarium where we got a panoramic view of the beachfront and its buildings behind all lit up.

Eventually made our way back to the hotel for dinner.
