Bella Venezia

Quick post from breakfast... Yesterday, we got into Venice around noon, had some difficulty finding our hotel... Venezia is a maze! After checking in, we set out on a long walk through the narrow streets and picturesque bridges. Our first main stop was Saint Marco's basilica, which has unbelievable mosaics everywhere. According to our book it took 800 years to complete!

Walked around for hours, admiring the city that seems to be a movie set. Found the famous Rialto bridge and sat on the bank at a cafe sipping prosecco and red wine. Eventually we made our way to dinner at a hidden restaurant (per Jackie's suggestion) which served delicious food at quite an affordable price. After, we tested the locals' favorite drink at a bar down the street. (We think it was called a spritzer.) Fun to try but it wasn't our favorite cocktail.

Off to explore the city some more!
