We drove down to Florence, parked at Piazzale Michelangelo and walked into the city center where we visited Pazzalo Davanzati. It was an old home with original murals painted on the walls inside. It was absolutely stunning.

We checked out the numerous leather shops along the streets and made our way to a sandwich shop recommended by Odile (the Bouchards' daughter). We discovered there was no menu but instead you design your own panini, unless the owner feels you're making a wrong decision, at which point he takes the reins and tells you what you will like. He made Martin an amazing ham panini with southern Italian spices, and for Kate, a roasted eggplant and local cheese panini. When we inquired about wine, he directed us to serves ourselves from the counter outside. The house wines were €2 each! And perfect for our lunch.
We walked off our late lunches and eventually headed home. Before reaching the car though, we rounded out our Florentine experience with an unusual sighting.

We hope the pig was just out stretching his legs and not on his way to the butcher. (Whitney's team!!)
