Un Jour Proveçal

Drove north yesterday to Aix-en-Provence with the hopes of visiting two of their famous marchés. We went to the city center; it was typical French - paved cobblestone streets, lined with trees, and filled with picturesque cafés, shops and fountains. We fell in love with it almost instantly.

Weaved our way through the Provençal streets, stopping in at a few stores. We later found the produce marché where we bought some lavender honey. Then a few minutes later, we arrived at the artisanal market that showcased antiques, pottery and leather goods.

After we had done enough browsing, we stopped at a café and had café au lait, chocolat chaud and un croissant amande.

We were so enamored by the city that Martin forgot to take pictures. Sorry!

In the afternoon, we explored our private calanque again.

The Mediterranean coast was recently hit by a strong tropical storm, which left debris and garbage strewn across most beaches. Being a boy scout, Martin felt we needed to follow the motto of leaving a place cleaner than when we arrived. So we picked up three trash bags full of garbage, mostly water bottles and styrofoam.

Went back to our fisherman's cabin for the last night.
