Next we walked over to the Comillas, the university Martin attended while studying here. We acted like students and wandered the hallways, all beautifully lined with blue and white tiles. Then we walked to his old apartment.
From there, we headed to a nearby Parque del Oeste. In it, there was an Egyptian temple from the Lower Nubia that was a gift to Spain from Egypt when it helped to save numerous other temples from flooding. We explored the inside of the temple which had a museum, incredibly interesting with lots of information on the rescue of these UNESCO sites.

After, we walked over to the Royal Palace where there was an official ceremony taking place, so they had a marching band and men on horses, all in traditional costume.

We wandered through the Sol neighborhood, window shopping and exploring small streets.
Made our way back to the apartment where we rested our legs for a little. Then we stopped by a café just up the street called La Cocina De Mí Vecina. We shared a tarte and two café con lechés. Spent some time there enjoying local life.
After dinner at the apartment, we went back out to another hip bar/restaurant to sip on a glass of wine and beer. Fascinating that at a trendy bar, a glass of each was €2.50 a piece!
