Toros!

Yesterday, we woke up early and went for a run through the Olympic Park. It was fun to see the city in its early morning hours. After packing and checking out, we hit the road towards Madrid... A six hour drive.

We learned that the land between Barcelona and Madrid is one big desert. But it was still interesting landscape and the many bull cut-outs that adorned hilltops.

Arrived in Madrid around 4:30pm and found the apartment we are staying in for the next four days. It's in a lively location, right in the center of the city.

Then we had the (what seemed impossible) task of finding reasonably priced parking because most of the lots were €29/day. So we set out towards Atocha Station where Martin asked the expertise of local cabbies who directed us to a lot that was more affordable. We left the car there, and set out on foot to explore the city. We walked by beautiful museums, fountains, squares and cool store fronts.

After dinner in the apartment, we went out to a bar that we had spotted earlier. There we tried some Spanish wines and the tapas that came along with it... Delicious bite-sized empanadas.
